Lennox Tracked Caught and...

Killed his 1st rabbit today.


Well heres the story.. was on a normal walk.. but he seemed to be more tuned in to his souroundings to day.. i thought it was because the light was getting low.. any way after trying to jump in a rather fast flowing part of the river we walk by after a water vowl, it was clear why he was so on point, he was in hunting mode.. so i watched carefull as he sniffed and dug and a few rabbit runs/bolt holes ready to jump up if he tried going to ground.. and then he heard something in the bush up ahead and bang he was off i had to run after him.. he went thru a bramble(ouch) bush so i folowed, he led me thru some thick area of trees and bushes. i caught sight of a fox for a moment a big red thing slipped into a hole. lennox didnt he was fixed on soemthing else. maybe it was the rabbit that the fox was stalkin bit spotted up and fled.. and way lennox bolted again.. i heard sme squiling so i ran after him... only to find him with a rabbit in his mouth that was still kicking.. and he gave it a few shakes.. and it was over..

had to manover thru here(im 20st so no that easy been nimble on mud lol)

which is all gutted and skinned..

skin shall be gettin dried out to use on the flirt pole.

Lennox got soem liver and kindeys as a reward.. and shall have some bmeat when my dads done with it..

Good job Lennox, Macy has been trying to catch things for 7 years and no luck yet. I can't believe he caught it above ground with those little legs, well done.

Cheers peeps.. nah matt.. my dad checked it out(hes been a contry bumkin all his life) it just had a dogdy eye.. i think lennox must of been down wind and on its bad eye side.. still none the less he caught and killed it(well i rung its neck to make sure) theres loads of rabbit warrens down that way.. going to set some snares over the weekend.. see if we can get anymore..

not bad for 5months..

I saw it had a swollen eye, that's why I thought it might have had Mixamotis. He must be fast if it didn't!

i think hes size or lack of it helped him to but hey he caught the lil bleeder.. maybe it was just developing mitsi,, but there was no gunk or glazed eyes.. etc

just a thought about the mixie mate, not knocking him at all, it must be the terrier tenacity in him, hope he has a few more soon, good luck!!!

Well done Lennox. It's not easy catching bunnies witht the dog, good excercise for the dogs though. Best way to dry the fur is to leave it hanging in an outside shed or similar, and also rub a little salt to the inside of the fur. It cures it little better
