the problem with these people they dont give a toss about the dogs health.all they care about is the size and look, not that it cant walk a mile let alone run it.lyndon you would have to fight it in a telephone box cause it wouldnt catch you outside of it mate.

Some Americans are calling them American bullies because they are so different from the pit bull. I've no doubt they could have been bred from pit bull stock but I'm sure it would have been easier to outcross to achieve the exaggeration. Definately not my cup of tea.

so they are not classed as pitbulls but as bullies or is that a blood line of pitbulls

A lot of U.S. pitbull sites promote these dogs , they call em "low riders" some are only 18" tall & go 100lbs , with that height /size ratio & muscle mass , it would be almost impossible to get 1 highly conditioned & fit for purpose ? I wouldnt want 1 even for free !!

Ridiculous lookin dogs very poorly put together just look at the elbow bowing out they would be refered to as pitbulls as the term pitbull refers to such a wide cross section of dogs this goes to show how wierd them fuckin colonials are and how weird ther dogs are compared to ours

they are obviously pumped full of roids etc. it is an all to common occurance, neos are a good example, the ridiculous ones are locked in a shed and pumped full of junk to make them appear the way to do, its so sad

I think they're just a product of exaggeration as so many modern dogs are, people want extremes without considering what that does to the dogs. People make assumptions about a dogs ability based on it's build without ever testing them to see what they are really capable of. I'd love to try one of those things over the A frame and see how long it takes to run out of wind, that's if it could get over it. The sad thing is that people buy these thinking they've bought the most capable dog in the world and it couldn't be further from the truth.

look's simular to what the K.C. has done to the E.B.T. over the year's,adding more weight and bone and loseing athleticism and wind.teach it to swim and you've got a baby hippo.

The American Bully is a relativley new breed I believe started around mid 90's. I have a few dvds with these dogs and magazines. They state that the dogs used to create this was the APBT & Am Staff. I shall write a few paragraphs from a mag I got.
About 10 years ago, some of us decided we wanted to take this breed in a different direction. We wanted that athletic muscular build of the APBT, but the size and mass of the Am Staff. We also wanted a dog that wasn't necessarily dog aggresive like APBT but wasn't quite so mellow and passive as the Am Staff. We wanted personality, character and that confident stability. We wanted energy, drive and unlimited stamina. We wanted them to have the look of a buff athlete.
Standard.
This breed should be of medium height and length They should have larger blocky shaped heads Muzzles should be relativly short and blocky Their chests should be wide and deep with a powerful look Shoulders should be set wide and have muscular definition The rears should be thick and muscular This breed should represent strength and power from head to tail.
a few well known lines Gotti Line, Razors edge, Elite edge, Blue line, Think blue kennels.
I personally think that they have taken 2 perfectly good breeds and created, I don't know what!! I have not seen any doing any sport of such and on the dvds nearly all the dogs are heavy panting from standing at a conformation show. So when they wanted the energy, drive and unlimited stamina, it does not show in the dogs that I have seen. Looks to me the American version of the British Bulldog.
Vince, looking through the mag there is a dog called Hippo!!!
