we've got the dogs, we've got the sports, lets get it on. so long as we stay within the law i dont see a problem. i think we should try both ways and see which works better, still think we should tie them to something solid like cars. and yes it would be weight for weight or there would be no point.

you could drill some more holes so they can kind of see each other.

Neil could knock up some stakes to bang into the ground that we could tie them to.

could we just bring some bath room scales with person holding their dog and then with out dog and the differance being the dogs weight, doesn't matter if the scales are not bang on, all dogs would be using same scales on same day.

The thing with the Board is that some dogs will want to pull to the side instead of straight back as they are meant to do, and still see the opponent. we could make the distance between each dog further apart maybe 4-6ft
Matt remind me sooner to the next day, as I have a video on Iron dog in USA I'll lend it to you. I think the sun breakers will be good enough to hold the dogs in place (they are the big white things on the feild at Margate) and will not budge.

In the book it says they use a 50ft bit of rope with the tugs fitted on the ends.

i think its better up close too with no board. as long as people can turn their dogs on and off. outsiders will think we are training our dogs to be vicious to each other, ie training them to fight, we will have to do it down the bottom corner out the way of judgemental and uneducated prying eyes. so as not to bring trouble to the sacs days.

i guess they would be better with long leads like marek sells, so they can move backwards and forwards and side to side, but when one lets go one can not get at the other.both leads being the same length

I had an idea to stop the dogs getting at each other and to keep them pulling in a straight line, you could drill a 10mm hole about a foot directly above the other one and run a rope through it, the rope would then run parallel to the ground above the dog and be connected to a solid object at each end, the dog would then be connected to the rope using a short lead connected to their collar or harness. I hope that makes sense, watchoo fink?

good idea mate, i use to work for a fella who had an alsation guard dog and he done this with him coz he kept getting the farmers sheep. wot would you do put some sort of a stop on it?

You could do, I assume you mean a stop near the board to stop the dogs getting to each other? It's possible they may not be able to get to each other if the board is wide enough, the line is tight enough and the lead is short enough so they can't get round it but a stop would also work and be a good back up.

yes mate a good knot in the rope would work, cant have enough back up to keep this event safe for dogs. ive got some rope off of a scaffolders rope and wheel if it helps nice and strong.

if you are going to have board in front, then i think perspex would be better or like i said before to drill a number of holes in board, personally i would say better without board but i maybe wrong.all avenues should be looked at.

But as you say we should try to think of various ways this can be done safely, Personally I think the sun blinds 10-15ft apart, a lead on each dog, the ones we have double trigger hook so it can be looped around, 2 medium tugs, rope and carabinas on them so it would be around 6ft+. Jess, if you could bring the scales that would be fantastic .
