At some stage there shall be a tug-o-war comp. I do like this though some peoples interpretations may vary as the dogs are growling and making themselves very vocal, but I expect that most dogs do this even when playing tug with their owner. The comp, dogs will be attached to a non movable object not held by leads.

Marek has told me that the record for tug-o-war in Czech is something like 3hrs I think,We would have to finish the show by car light! Some dogs excel at this, Goddess is the best I have seen so far. Will have something put together for the next event for people to try out.
I thought Neil was the missing link!!!!!!!

you could always call it a draw after a certain amount of time. say 10 mins max for each dog.

you could always call it a draw after a certain amount of time. say 10 mins max for each dog. Or a leaderboard? Or a championship like boxing if it results in a draw the one who was champ at first is still champ

i think this sport shows true grit, the desire to give up must be strong, the dog that holds on longer having more courage tenacity and determination, it is these qualities we should be trying to retain at all costs. i.e. winning dogs mated to winning bitches, selective breeding just like the a-frame and so forth.

i also think this is where the new english bull pups would do well with their stubbornness

i agree but winning bitches to winning dogs is only a good idea if stubborness and strength is the goal. i think temperement and health should always be the first consideration

I've got an idea for little invention to make for a clear winner, a fairly short competition and to stop the dogs getting at each other but as with most of my ideas it's a bit crazy lol.
I tried something last year that was O.K but this is much better if a little more elaborate.

oooh sounds good care to explain?
(another way for tug of war is to have the dogs back to back joined by a rope then no head on aggression

in one of my am bulldog books theres a bit on tug of war, in this they have two dogs pulling through a sheet of ply with a hole cut in the middle so the dogs are not face to face, i will scan it later and post it. the book is called the working american bulldog by dave putnam loads of good information about iron dog comps, boar hunting and much more. the best am bulldog book i have seen.

i agree with youre breeding ideas ian its proved dog to proved dog(function over form) including bully crosses , as close as we can get to legally proving there gameness me thinks .back to the old ways not just pretty dog to pretty dog.i to think our english bulls will shine at this event and others.

Already made 1. I think the dogs seeing each other is a better way to do it. The dogs would compete against others same or nearly same weights, but some smaller dogs will be more tenacious than the bigger dogs and vice versa. I 'm not to sure how they set rules for this but Marek will enlighten us soon.
