To get the upper body that you could only dream about use 10 mins spring pole, followed by a good rub down. It builds the lats, obliques, neck, shoulders and chest. You can keep the feet on the floor but i find this can become a little boring for the dog.

When you increase muscle, with strength exercises you will not lose weight but may even gain it as muscle weighs more than fat(not a bad fing). Walks in my opinion will not combat weight but runs will ie bike rides etc

I've heard of dogs falling awkwardly from them but I'd like to know of any other possible hazards because I'm making one at the moment and would like to avoid making anything hazardous.

I think lee told me to never let abs on one unsupervized as they can hang themselves !! for this reason shes always supervized. Also she wont go on it unless inticed.

The safest way would be to put a stake in the ground and then put a tyre over it. You have to take the metal out the tyre first but same results with the dogs feet always on the ground.

I'm an idiot! I read that as "a dog hurt itself" not "hung", I should engage brain before typing! lol

The dog should always have its back feet on the deck as we all know. I have only read of 1 dog having killed itself from the springpole and that was a APBT being conditioned, apparently the dog broke its back when it let go of the toy, obviously the toy was too high up.

It's a problem we all face because of ignorance, be proud of what you do and stand your ground because you are in the right. The athletic ability of your dog is something to be proud of, don't hide it.

my neighbours are the same, pure dickheads which means i dont have to give a fuck what they think. i've already had r.s.p.c.a round and have seen condition of dogs and kennels, and are more than happy, been round a few times and they dont bother me anymore.
