Hi there
I wanted to know what you all thought about running with your dog. I was taking my dog out on the bike and was doing 12 to 15 km a day. I stopped going so far as was doing over 80km a week with him.
I went away for two months and have no started to take him out again on the bike, but wanted to see what you all thought about the distance with him. On the days i dont take him on the bike he is doing some other sort of exercise..
Is there a distance thats too far, of course i know my dog and never push him, when we doing 15km a day he is in front of me on the bike and never gets behind me on the bike where i have to pull him, so i can see he is doing well.
what do you all think...

You know your dog better than anyone and if you reckon he's fine then don't worry. The only thing i would be concerned about is what surfaces he is running on. If it's a hard surface i would either take him on a softer surface if poss, or just lessen the run a bit. The hard ground will start to affect his joints / muscles IMO. Sounds like your dog is fit though doing that amount of running, i'm sweating just thinking about it !!

I run him on the road and thats what i am also worried about, i hate running so to get him to do those distances then i need to cycle and not sure where to do it on the grass. I must see if there is another plan i can make

I will start taking him on dirt tracks as well then.... Last thing i need or want is for him to get an injury

The distance your doing with him sounds fine.....its how often you do it that is the concern. My dogs can run in excess of 22miles, but they would only do that about 3-4 times a week........and thats running with my brother not with a bike. All you need to remember is that REST is just as important as the initial activities.....allow your dogs body to recover and repair.
