Me & Marek went to Staffordtimes with our Sporting-Dog-Supplies super store and I had the highest privalige of my very short time in Sporting dogs by judging the Working dog class.
We arrive on the Friday afternoon after a 5hr ish car drive to the "Van Elden's" Hotel . We were once again made to feel very welcome by such a warm and friendly greeting, it really feels like a home from home .
Later in the evening Mmartijn comes over with Moro & Tina, I really like these Dogos. We had a lovely BBQ washed down by many beers and much talk about the thing we love most DOGS!
We head off early Saturday morning to the Dog centre, the site of the Staffordtimes shows. A good steady stream of dogs are coming through the doors for a large part of the morning. I believe that there was around 200 dogs in total not all of them competiting or in the conformation ring. Marco & the Sporting SBT Club were on hand to assist in the lure racing which we took our machine and Marco had his manual lure machine, there was also a coursing ring aswell as an A-frame to practice on.
Then my time had come and to start judging the dogs that I saw before me. What I liked about how they do their judging you give comments on the head, teeth, tail, movement, then give your general impression of the dog. As I have said from our last visit they have some excellent Staffords there and it was so nice to be able to go all over these dogs up close and personal. The hardest part was with the male Working Stafford class but after a few words from my mentor Mr Van Elden all became clear . The dog I picked for BIS is called Dozer and he was the best there in my eyes good hard condition very alert and keen to join in the melee. He was also given Best Male Stafford, Best of Breed, Best Conditioned & Best In Show a very good day for him and his owner. All in all the dogs are at a very good standard there and hopefully we shall be seeing the same friends ther next year, with the dogs being brought in peak condition.
Frank & Eliza, Martijn, Stefan, Michelle, Anton & all of the Staffordtime crew and SSBTCNL thank you very much for your hospiltality and letting me judge it really means alot to me.
Once again thank you very very much
