hi everyone thanx for all your comments i didnt set out to buy a stafford pup so if it turns out these two babies are not full its ok they will still be staying with me regarless however i will be having a word with their breeder as i also said i didnt plan on breeding and if i did ever consider it i would definately look thoroughly into everything before making a decision to go go ahead or not (and before anyone takes me wrong i have no plans to bred ). i have already made an appointment at the vets for a check and their first jabs so will let you all know how they are any more info would be welcomed also any name ideas :0) Thank you for not being annoyed with me for being blunt - i have been worried that you may take offence. Anyone that knows me, knows that anything i ever say when it comes to the dogs its because i really care. Its great that you want to learn about them - They are such unique little pups - it would be lovely to see how they grow and look as they get bigger Im all spent when it comes to dog names!..... but my daughter as spot and dot!! LOL ;D

Merle is actually a heterozygote of an incompletely dominant gene. If two such dogs are mated, on the average one quarter of the puppies will be double merles ("double dilute") and a high percentage of these double merle puppies could have eye defects and/or be deaf. Knowledgeable breeders who want to produce merle puppies mate a merle with a non-merle dog; roughly half the puppies will be merles without the risk of vision or hearing defects.
so there is a good chance u can get a merle without any risks of blindness or hering issues if u got them from a good breeder...................hope this helps

Glad someone here knows rhyming slang . Please dont tell me you paid £3000 for them dogs . I wonder what the Kennel Club will say about the colouring as it is definately not in the Stafford standard And as for it being the rarest of colours in none of my many books new and old or on the tinternet have I ever seen or heard about this colour. You can most probably see these being the next "must have" and at £1000-£1500 per pup loads of people will be wanting them for a quick buck.

By all accounts from what ive read about the Merle colour if done (bred) correctly there shouldnt be much of a problem, and in all fairness they are eye catching, theres a Merle coloured dog were I walk my dogs (not a staff) and at first I thought it was a hyena LOL but if bred wrongly and lets be honest here, like allot of staffs inc. the blue, people do just breed for money without a care for the dogs health, at £1000 - £1500 a pup for what potentially could be Blind/deaf, this could be very sad indeed. Lets hope it does not catch on.
