hi there. now we all know that taking your dogs down fields/beach or for lucky ones in there huge back garden to train with there dog/s but do people still use treadmills or slatmills for that extra edge.
ive thought about getting a treadmill before but havent got round to it as i really enjoy getting involved with my dogs (not saying people who use treadmills dont) but would u say a treadmill/slatmill would get ur dog that extra edge or make them fitter?
people say to me "dont put your on a tredmill it send them doolally" is this true?
Do u notice a differance in your dog after being on a treadmill/slatmill or do ur dogs generally really enjoy the tradmill/slatmill?
Thanks iTz ... Paul ...

in my experience dont bother mate not all dogs will use one for starters and i think youll just be wasting your money. I only use ours when its raining badly, but nothing beats the bike or a good 8 miles road walk. best bet to try them on one b4 you buy one. I dont think itll give you the edge over anyone else either.

alright paul, treadmills are ok and i have used them in the past and i cant say i dont think the dogs enjoyed it , but the work can be very much the same , i think that just going out on the bike up and down hills and along the flat where the work is more varied is better for the out come of the dogs

A mill can be an invaluable tool when conditioning a dog if used correctly, (as an addition to road/bike work etc). If you have a dog that cannot be trusted off lead, again a mill can be a god send. That said, not all dogs enjoy the mill but if introduced early on you might have trouble getting them off it. As for sending them dollally, not in my experience.jmo

you can buy ours for £50 have you still got it? is it a motorised people treadmill or a dog treadmill? Either way i would be interested as we got let down on the one i was going to be getting We have been looking for one to give our dogs a bit more extra exercise if the weather is not good, like when we had snow the other week and couldnt get them out to the field (they went out for the first few days but on the ice i gave it a miss). Also it would be good for our "special" dog who cannot focus, to let him have a good run ad get tired without causing problems.

Well. I use slatmill to conditioning my dogs. I love it but ya shouldn't take off any other workouts like roadwalk, cycling, flirtpole etc.. Some guys just get mill and then leave all other workouts away (dogs can get also very fast bored if they only run from day to day). Slatmill is just one extra workout for us.
And where you need it?
1. Getting some muscles to your dog? or 2. Fat burning?
If 1, get carpetmill. If 2, get slatmill. Also, if ya have many dogs, you save very much time when you can use mill, just put your dog to run, get it off and let him recover while second dog are running. Simple.
BTW. I can say, good slatmill runner is fast as rabbit also in ground ;D
