is there any point in this section, it seems to cause unrest, everyone says a decent bag of dog grub is enough or feed a piece of meat, if we were to feed an extra piece of meat for everything the dogs would need to consume about 40lb a day. After the creatine thread I am loath to say anything in this section anymore. BTW for those that say heart is all thats needed to get a dog through on here have probably havent got a clue what they are on about and never witnessed heart in action, but it doesnt matter how big the heart is the body still needs fuel and stored slow release fuel, when in extremes of performance. How many times did we see good dogs let down by their owners because they didnt know how to condition or feed properly ?Doesnt matter how game the dog is but if he hasnt got the strength or reserves to carry on he will fail, and 9 times out of ten thats the owners fault. Rocky Lee a well known trial stafford , had an extremely hard life, as a roll dog and a trial dog and as a draw dog, 18yrs old and still wants to row, and supplements every day of his life, would he still be here or even moving if he had just been feed complete food or chucked another bit of meat if he needed say more B12 i dont think so! Supplements are needed not to use them is laziness imo

Yes, absolutely there's a point.
A forum, by it's nature is about discussing things and with around 400 members people are bound to disagree, especially on tricky subjects like this when the effects of suppliments are difficult to quantify. All we can do is give our experiences and recommendations and if others disagree then so be it...it's their dog and they can suppliment or not, it's up to them. I have personally seen a dog improve its health greatly from a suppliment used to cure a problem so I think that suppliments can be important but not neccasary for every dog. This section allows people to discuss whether suppliments are needed for their dog's particular circumstances.
I've been on forums along time (and probably way too much) and realise that getting deeply involved in arguments is very rarely worth it, it creates division, makes people feel victimised, never solves anything and is the cause is usually very trivial. One thing is for certain about the internet is that there will always be someone on there that is wrong, who won't listen to you and will think your views are idiotic just like you think theirs are so it's usually best to rise above it.
If you don't agree with someone about the use of suppliments being vital then you can't force them to believe what you do, you just have to give them your view and leave it at that.

everyone says a decent bag of dog grub is enough or feed a piece of meat. Bit of a bold statement. I for one didnt reply as i was off to do some homework before i decided for myself weather or not to use it. I often see differences on here so always use the internet to find out more and come to my own conclusions. I will let you all know soon as

Its a brilliant section and one ive often referred to. Although everyones opinions will never be the same, for someone researching whether supplements are good or bad, this section is perfect as you get both perspectives and can go away and make up your own mind. I think its fantastic that everyone can put their opinions in one place and just agree to disagree........ what works with one dog may not work with the next but at least you can view the pro's and con's of them, from people that have tried and tested different methods. I personally do give my dogs supplements when they are being worked normally from about February to November. Ive just found energy levels are higher and recovery rate (from strenuous work outs) is quicker.
