I dont think its a very good idea Sonia. Generally people who own 'certain' dogs, arent going to take any notice. Leaving us to fork out more money for something the government thinks is going to solve all problems. People who dont want to pay up and take the test are then going to be more encouraged to own a banned breed as they will already be breaking laws so might aswel do so with the pitbull that they always wanted. If it is to replace BSL then i think it could be a good thing, otherwise any dog of any breed is going to be destroyed simply because it hasnt got an owner that passes tests and pays fees.

I see your point Kris, but surely it would avoid thousands of dogs getting into the wrong hands.......well I assume it would. I think the government are so aware of the big mistake theyve made with the DDA that theyre now focusing on OWNERSHIP which is the key......all rules apply to all dogs, which is the way it should be. I understand that the ones that dont abide by the rules will avoid fee's and registration, but its the same as any other law.....the same could be said for Burglary we know its against the law so we wouldnt do it, but theres still those that will and they will do the time. Its a very difficult one, ive often wondered how you could stop back yard pedlars and people that abuse dogs, but Ive never come up with a sure fire answer and im pretty sure thats where these ridiculous laws come from, there is no clear answer so trial and error is the next step, the DDA has killed so many dogs yet the number of Pit Bulls on the street has gone up by god knows how much, for me anything is better than the DDA........ banning something just makes criminals want to pursue it more.

what about all the good dogs that cant pass one persons veiw on what should be a test. if its foucsed on the owner like they say it will be thats all good diffrent breeds will have to be tested diffrent imo. but they will have a shock if they drop the dda and they start having to test pitbulls and see that they will be the ones that love u the most and have the waggest tails wen they see people hopeful. they might will find alot of the lapdogs like poddles will have the most probs passing there tests
