I am sorry to say that a little yorkie cross dog was killed by a black and white staffie today in Dane Park Margate. None of us want this for any dog, but the owner of the staff had let their children take the dog out and could not control it. To make this awful incident worse they had only had the little rescue dog for two weeks. The owner dislocated her fingers trying to get the dog off. Two men did who stopped to help. Is this the first time this dog has done this? A couple of weeks ago a black and white staff beat up a labradoddle causing it to have 152 stitches. This was in the same area in Margate Walpole bay. I know you are all sensible owners who love their dogs but for the sake of the breed if you know of anybody letting kids take these powerful dogs out which they cannot control please can you put them straight otherwise you will end up with all sbt being muzzled in public.

Thats awful..the poor woman must be devastated.. The truth is the majority of dog owners are good ones who act and control their dogs in a responsible way..but there will always be those who don't..anyone who allows a dog to be walked by a child of any breed should not be allowed to own a dog..from the intensity of the attack I would not think this was the first time..which makes it even worse.. As usual the minority bring shame on the majority..

My friends mom's yorkie was kill by an akita on there front garden the police and rspca did not want to know I bet it would of been a different story if it was a staff ebt or pit.I would never let my kid's walk a dog by their self some times it's not your dogs you need to watch it's other people's.the amount of time's people let their dog run up to my staffs when my dogs are on the lead is unreal even when I've told the they are DA.Some one put on facebook that their staff got savaged by a gsd it almost ripped the staffs leg off but but no one ever get's to hear these story's you never get to here the good things these dogs do just the bad.I feeb bad for the owners of the dog and we dont need this type of shit for the breed but you never know the full story.

The owner had to be sedated last night . As far I know the police don't want to know. The dog warden has at least told them it will need to be muzzled in public. The owner of the staff was not very helpful did not want to help with the bill etc. Shame it has to be like this.

I'm surprised that something like this hasn't happened sooner with the amount of bull breeds being walked off lead and under very little control by many around Thanet, have spoke to the dog warden before but there is nothing they can do. No surprise they dont want to know about the bill, and pound to the penny the dog will hardly ever wear a muzzle either.

Do you have any idea where the staffy came from i.e. have they had it from a pup?
As the discription sounds like the dog that used to live in our block of flats who attacked my rottie? DW an police (as i broke my thumb prising the dogs mouth open and got bit for the privelage as owners just stood there) spoke with them and they were allowed to rehome for free in the paper - i still have a picture of it on my computer i think. Police and DW refused to take any action about the dogs owners as the dog was "poorly socialised" and not "dangerous".

same thing has just happened around our way, ol fella walking his bichon (toy dog), was attacked by a stafford off lead, the woman got her dog and said it wasn't hers, she's just looking after it and walked off. the little dog ended up losing its eye and the ol fella wasn't insured and had to pay £2000 bill. police said it is nothing to do with them and the staff has disappeared! man feels guilty he wasn't able to stop it quick enough.

I know the owner lives in Sweyn rd clifftonville it is the second time that I know it has attacked dogs. The first was on the beach with the labradoodle receiving 152 stitches The owner does not want to help with the £900.00 bill. This was to try to save the dog but it died anyway. The owner is only bound by the dog warden till September to walk the dog with a muzzle. It was a second hand dog but I do not know who owned the dog in the first place.

They may have changed the name now but the one I knew of was called maisy and is a girl who must be around a year year and a half old? Knowing the dogs former owners who refused to accept their dog was dog agressive as it lived with another dog, I'm guessing they gave her away to another equally senible person.

god this is awful and should be stopped what next one of our kids. But as you will know this will affect all staffies in the area so be aware. I know what i would do if i saw the owners. It wont be long until Margate council get on the bandwagon and stops all dogs going into parks whether muzzled or not.
