Just an idea to help evaluate your dog's obedience and recognise areas where you can improve.
Rate out of 10 your dog's obedience in each area.
Sonny.
Sit - 5/10 Stay - 5/10 Leave - 8/10 Heel - 8/10 Recall - 8/10
Macy
Sit - 10/10 Stay - 10/10 Leave - 9/10 Heel - 7/10 Recall - 9/10 Roll over 10/10 ;D

Rommel sit - 8/10 stay - 9/10 leave - 10/10 (except food on street & high jump but thats by design) down - 9/10 heel - 7/10 recall - 5/10 (recently lost him in the woods might make this a 1/10, he went after something) roll over - 0/10

Leave = drop or let go.
I was only joking when I put roll over in there, it's Macy's party trick. I don't tell her to do it often but if she wants something badly enough she'll do a roll over.
Her heel is actually getting worse as she gets older, I might need to do some more training on that. She's probably a 6 or a 7 out of ten at the moment. I'll change her rating.

Good to see their recall is as good as it is, that's so important.
Harvey's scores are really good but what's up with his heel work? Is it something he refuses to do or something you haven't done much of?

Red is
Sit - 8/10 Stay - 8/10 Leave - -10/10 Heel - 8910 Recall - 8/10
He does all these no problem, but problem is if he is in a "zone" then he will not leave his ball or stick no matter what i do or say. I must be be honest i have not spent as much time as I should on obedience, and am happy with Red considering how much time is spent on obedience.
He loves to run in the forest so much so end up doing that instead of obedience.... no excuse i know... ha ha

He does walk next to you if you say"wait" but doesn't do it on the command "heel". We did a lot of training at puppy classes together. I would say that if I can take him out and he walks next to me he isn't bad. Recall is the most important command IMO and they both are excellent at that. If they had no recall they could never be let off the lead. A couple commented on how good Harvey was at recall when we were over the fields. I used to take out Lucy so didn't feel too confident taking out Harvey on my own but his recall was spot on...

I must admit it's something I've struggled with a bit with Sonny because of his natural aversion to submissive gestures like lying down or even sitting so I had to look it up on the web myself to get some tips. This is an excellent site and it gives you a video to show what they mean. I would give this a try, I can't gaurantee it works like the Dog in the video because they're all different, well Sonny is anyway, I think it just takes a bit of persistance with the more dominant dogs. www.dog-obedience-training-review.com/down-command.html
