Im looking for a weightpull harness as im thinking about placing Milla into the sport at one of your shows next year but to slowly start on small things this year. Im really wanting one thats grey with pink piping/edging and with her name embroided on the grey in pink, i know its along fetch but anyone know of any "custom" sites where i could get one? Also she was a year old on June 29th so round 14 months now any pointers on starting her gradually and when i know to load the trolley/cart up with something a bit heavier? Along with encouraging her to cart it along behind her? Thanks folks

Hello, Good luck with your dog and weight pull. My name is Missy with BrownDog Design Harnesses and I have been involved in weight pull for 20+ yrs now in the US. We have many multiple US National Champions in conformation and weight pull. I do not offer any embroidery services on weightpull harnesses but I do offer weight pull harnesses that are used my more ADBA , UKC, APA etc National Champions than any other harness maker. Feel free to check out my website, it is loaded with harness information, training info for the adult dog & puppies and photos www.weightpullharness.com/

If you haven't done weight pulling before I would suggest borrowing or buying a standard off-the-shelf harness in case your dog doesn't enjoy the sport. My dogs all have harnesses from Sporting Dog Supplies. With regards to training, the first thing is training them to be in the harness. Don't forget that if they have worn a normal harness to stop them pulling, this will be the opposite of what they have been trained to do before. The next step is getting them used to having something behind them both the concept of "pulling" and also the noise. Once they have gotten used to it you can gradualy increase the weights for short distances and also mix in some longer runs with less weight. Thanks for the replies She hasn't worn a harness before but does adjust quickly to things I place on her eh. Waterproof weather jacket etc. she doesn't tug on the leash and walks quite nicely beside me do you think she will associate the harness with pulling? Obviously she wouldn't be walked on it as I wouldn't want to encourage her tugging on the leash. Will look into getting her your bobby basic walking harness for the mean time

Whenever i get my dogs to pull i make sure they are off lead or the lead is loose and use their pull command, to seperate normal walking from pulling.

That's a good idea I will most likely teach her "tug" when she is off leash. Cheers again mate
