Well I had quite a upsetting day today, a neighbour (well 6 doors down) called the local police station today claiming I owned a APBT! Needless to say it is false that Milla's a APBT but she is a Old Time Stafford/Game Staff so tall, long and lean non bulky which I could understand with the traditional APBT is also tall, long and lean. Has anyone else had this problem with there game looking Staff? Police said she doesn't look like a APBT as she isn't big and bulky (clearly that's what they think a APBT looks like thanks to the backyard breeders) so thank god they aren't looking into it despite I just said to them she is a Staffie Whippet mix they were comfortable with that along with her good and welcoming nature no alarm bells were ringing for them.
But has anyone else had anything like this happen? If so how did you cope - just for future heads up incase it happens again to which I doubt but you never no

I worry about out new dog as she is a big bully type crossed with a rottie. We have already had one person ask if she was a APBT as she was barking at them when she was left in the car. Luckily she has longer fur so if questioned my response is she is a rottie x. The rescue we got her from said she was a lab x!
As we now have fussy neighbours (they complain about everything) and an ex-friend is creating problems with the DW saying im cruel to the dogs and they are out of control. I have started taking them to dog training, trainer is a police dog trainer and they are doing their KC awards. So im hoping if there is an issue in the future I can prove a police dog trainer has trained them and not raised a query of their breeding and has also confirmed they are well behaved.
I have now also made a "dog file" where I keep all their important information and its near the door in case of another DW visit, so I have all their vac, worm/flea and vet vist records to hand.
Knowing most police most have little/no training and go from the photos in the papers and think a APBT is a chunky dog! I remember being told off fore brining an "agressive" dog to a dog show as he was "muzzled", although he actually had a halti on so i could keep better contol over him and stop him being over friendly to people.

It is a scary thing and it never bothered me until now thankfully Max sent me all saying that since they were happy with Milla if they get another call they won't investigate as they already have! Which has lifted the world off of my shoulders as I would die for my dog and can't imagine not being with her we are like night and day she is my shadow lol. Police trainer is a good idea sadly we don't have that here just your normal puppy schools to which Milla has went to and passed and has also passed her bronze and silver good citizen classes and is starting the gold in Febuary. She also is up to date on vaccines and her microchip everything is kept in a folder in the living room. I don't know why people are fussy about dogs living near them they don't own our dogs so why should it bother them? My neighbour right next door to me has a huge phobia of dogs but that's not going to stop me owning one I know she has a phobia of them but I'm sorry it's not stopping me lol As for the halti remark how does it look like a muzzle?! I'm sure some people wouldn't know what a muzzle was evan if it was labelled! Just like the time a woman asked me if Milla was a Boxer?! I said no she is a SBT she looked and said she don't like those dogs >.< how can you not like a dog of you clearly don't know what it looks like?! Pmsl idiot!

Walk it with a big pink collar or a natty flashing LED one, hassle free.

It doesn't matter what you say it is or what it actually is, the police can seize any dog they feel fits type....
I know of massive Bully type American Bulldogs that have been seized, never think your safe because your not.
And please don't say game staff!!!

Hear hear. If you refer to your dogs as 'game Staffords' you are unconsciously giving an ever growing army of mindless, freedom reining, holier-than-thou idiots free ammunition to bombard innocent dog owners with. What's their problem? If Mr. A can own a Cavalier King Charles spaniel that's prone to terrifying, debilitating fits or an English bulldog so grossly deformed that it can barely breathe, why on Earth can't Mr. B have a fit Stafford or any other breed that he wishes, as long as he controls his dog at all times? I'm sure many people think that one of my dogs in particular wants nothing more than to slaughter their spaniels and poodles and devour their children, and that I would encourage and gleefully applaud his atrocities..... The dog in question is often mistaken for a Pit bull, though thankfully I've never been questioned by the police. Many people are terrified of him, thinking he's some sort of blood thirsty fiend, though in truth he's one of the friendliest dogs I've ever had the pleasure to own. If you're a good 'un, that is - I hate to think what he would do to a burglar, but that's a bugbear I intend to discuss at another time.
