I always have a helping lead(on the harness) and a lead on their collar. So if they get tired, I still want them to move the weight, I would just help them with the helping lead, and in their mind, they think it's them! That's how you teach them to keep on going even when it's real heavy and hard because they CAN do it!So they wont give up. I don't have a video of mines dragging, here is a friend, who has achived a LOT in WP with her dogs. www.youtube.com/user/JEMSKennel#p/u/4/qIX-xt_aNWQThis is a good speed that you want to achieve eventually.

good read, Ive just started to get all 3 of mine into weight pull although my oldest bitch and I touched on it last year no compition stuff just 50% her body weight I tried the boy a little but felt he didnt enjoy it then this year for the first time I gave him a go on the cart and he pulled 900lb and did it well IMO, ive just got some chains and new harnesses so fingers crossed.

shakka... that sounds good to me, when my dogs have drag pulled heavy weights you can really see them making the effort in the first 5ft and if they can start a heavy dead weight and pull it 5ft then they will pull the distance on a cart. i also drag pull half of body weight over 1 mile and do this about 3 times a week, also penty of road work with bike and on foot. I have to disagree here! I have pulled on some tracks that was OK to start but from 10feet it got way too heavy to finish. So you really want to build the dog to be able to work on hard tracks as well. Some tracks easy to start, some are hard. Like for an examlpe: this one was hard to start when the weight got heavy, but was rolling just fine after a couple of feets into the pull(plus the dog was pretty tired by then he had like 20-25 rounds before this) www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uksV1Usl1M&feature=mfu_in_order&list=ULAnd this one was ok to start, but was harder at the finish: www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJTXJ5j5lDE&feature=BFa&list=UL8hB9sxi5HjM&index=6

Milo is a cool dog.... i think what we train for is dog who dossent give up and just kips trying too pull becource you tell it to. i had a lot of problems with nemo the first 3 years i couldent get him to pull if it got a littel to heavy. he would simply just stand there looking ast me like i was a fool. but hey i was i keept letting people tell me how to do things with him insted og staying to one game plan... a wise person then told me some things to thange and since then it just went up from there.... ill show you a video from the apa championship i think its 2009 i france.... i went there 6 month after we got a new baby and nemo was fat out of shape. i really fucked thing up but still got a good results.... look a the video and tell me some of the things i did wrong (the funny thing is that one of my biggest competiers came and said to me whatthe hell is was doing) www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9TAGlnDhh4&feature=relateddamm i look like a fool he he and Nemo is clearly thinking what the hell...... well we won and i got to see my mistakes and thange a lot of things. some of the people close to me said after vouds tha i was way to nerves and did thing diffrent from what i normaly did . nemo normaly a 110 dog when really fit he was 118 here haw a good laugf people.... he he

Do you let him stare at you when you train him at home too? Also maybe if you would've started him praising from the sec. you released him, would've made a big difference! We all make BIG mistakes,I could write a book now!!!!!!

It'll be good to have more SBT's or simular sized dogs competing in the UK. At the moment all of the competition is at the heavier weights.
