Grand Carpet Mill

Here's some pictures of the carpet mill I have from Grand Carpet Mill { www.grandcarpetmill.com/ }. I'm pretty happy with it, although, I think with Tanks size, he would probably do better with a slat mill as they tend to be better at building up endurance and wind which is something he is lacking and can use help in improving. The carpet mill seems to add bulk just because it's harder to turn. He LOVES it though. When it was out of commision for a bit as I was changing the carpet on it, he'd stand on it and bark hoping I'd hook him up! lol

My crazy foster Gracie that was death row in Ontario due to the ban. She is one of three puppies that have been here that right off the hop loved the treadmill! lol I was heading outside with her on a leash and she ran right up on the treadmill and started running full out. I never laughed so hard in my life! lol I never let the pups use it often as I just worried about hurting their growing bodies, but I couldn't resist showing off the crazy drive in some of these pups now and again! lol



This is my foster "Other Venus" {just cause we had two Venus'! lol} This dog was one of the laziest, low drive dogs I've ever had here but for whatever reason she LOVED the treadmill! lol I was so surprised to see her take right to it first go!

Funny video of Scarling and Raven on the treadmill. They were going WAY better before I grabbed the camera! lol Just turn down your volume. I am loud and high pitchy! lol

This is "Other Venus" on the treadmill for the first time ever! She probably would have been more focused if were weren't all laughing so much at her! lol She's all wondering what the fuss is about! lol And of course the little camera ham Raven is trying to get into the video! lol

Really wanted to get 1 but the import was a nightmare so adapted a manual human mill.

Yep it would have cost close to a grand to get the Grandmill but bought mine for £20 and spent about £5 for the wood.

i was always told never to buy a human manual mill (magnetic) as they were not free turning enough to do any sprint work and could actually damage a dogs kidneys. any comments on this ? the first mill i ever bought over 20 years ago was a carpet mill and it did me fine but i must admit i do prefer a slatmill for the reason it is easier to turn and my dogs have always taken to them easier.

hi number 13 i think when you get a magnetic mill..you are supposed to take the part out that
makes the resitance..so when the dogs on it its free turning..

hi m8 yeah it is a simple peice of logic(common sense really) but as you can see from your last post the reason..i put the simple peice of logic!! as you put--i was always told never to buy a human manual mill (magnetic) as they were not free turning enough ...so thats why i answerd with what i did...makes sense right...lol

forgot to add, the pups tongue is out on the video as she had just returned from a bike ride (well i was riding she was running lol).she is getting to grips with the mill slowly but i believe in easy does it she will only get on the mill 2 x per week while young so as to keep her keen, it is something i have always done with pups and i feel it makes them keener for it when eventually the time comes when you need to condition them properly.

I can't see any association between a mill and kidney damage other than inappropriate use. Hard physical work without adequate water, body fat or energy stores could create damage but that's not the fault of the mill.

i have an electric treadmill some dogs will take to it some wont i have adapted it to harness the dog's. Use it yourself for a few weeks let the dogs see you havving fun on it eventually they will want to investigate. Dont just put your dog on it and expect him to like it he will proboblly be scared. Abbey uses it Rameses wont.

hi shakka i have tryed kye on it once just stood at the front of treadmill & bribed him on it with some liver & chicken..he was ok till treats ran out...lol..
