As long as what you are feeding is keeping your pup full of energy and his bowels regular then it's good. A remark that i have read stuck in my head. You only get out of a dog with what you put in..

Hi Alza and Lee I have found Eukanuba with a tea spoon of cod liver oil the best dog food for my girls. You may want to try Kye on that. My girls are full of energy and have excellent coats.

does anybody give their dog's abidec,i have found this to be excellent for both bringing on pup's and older dog's?

I've not used it, I hope I haven't got my wires crossed, do you mean this? www.abidec.com . I've heard it said that you can't overdose vitamins but that's not true, you can get vitamin poisoning, this would appear to be easier to dose correctly than the tablets designed for adults.

Both Abbey and Rameses are on Austrailian formula greyhound food and have been off the james welnotloved kibble for a few months now. Im very pleased with the food and the way the dogs look with it. It has all the vits except b,b12 which they get from desicated liver tablets i add to it along with evening primrose oil and cod liver oil.

hi shakka i am going to change kye's food he has been on james wellbeloved food..for a while now!!can i ask why you changed from jw food

Post by dog on Nov 27, 2008 17:00:43 GMT
I used to use James wellbeloved but when they were bought out by Pedigree they changed the formula and alot of people (including myself) had problems with their dogs getting the runs, it's also ****** expensive. I use Australian formula now as well, it's about half the price of James Wellbeloved and very good quality. I've heard that Eukanuba and Hill's nature's diet are good too but they are expensive.
There are alot of dried foods but it's hard to know which ones are best because you don't get a detailed list of ingredients so you can avoid the ones with lots of cereal fillers like maize.

I really do think its important to get feed right. When i first brought Bob to the shows he was training hard but over weight cos he was fed incorrectly. Anyone who trains knows you can train all day long, but without the correct diet you wont improve or look the part. Kibble in mst cases contains bulking ingredients that are not natural, however hill natures best and others dont contain these. They dont have a high protien level so i mix raw mixed meats and fat. The fats are important as thats your fuel and the protien is you muscle builder. Vitamin supplements should be of a childs dose, omega oils and cod liver oils, etc aid joints and coat.

alza advice from the others on the forum stopped me feeding james well-not-loved the protien wasnt high enough for starters and dog told me of the change in ingredients im happy with the way my dogs look on it, it costs half than JwB per 15 kilo's and in my opinion smells more too which again imo is more appetizing for them. Its kinda hard to get hold of though. Dog very kindly gets ours for us.

We have ours on Eukanbua working dog - its really good, Poppy and Butch are very active and its the only food that can keep weight on them. The pups are on Pro plan - its not to high protein - we try and keep them on an average amount of protien so not to cause any growth probs - but the pro plan is great for - they will go on eukanuba WD at 12 months.

I have been feeding Orijen for a couple of week's now and i have seen a change in Doll's. I used to feed Australian formula and it was good, but a change is alway's worth a try right ? She has now put on a little weight which i wanted and couldn't get from the Australian. She has a little more energy than she used to,but i have fed slightly over the recommended level's to get some weight on her. So far so good, will keep you posted
