Hi there everyone,
I just thought I would share my thoughts on conditioning, over the years I have conditioned many dogs for different comps, taking everything into account in order to increase body mass(muscle) there is nothing like a well made SPRINGPOLE made from cioled springs, while in the US I came across many bungy cord so called springpoles which do nothing for any dog because there is no resistance and most of the time they are hung to high, I am having some made here in the UK very soon, a well made springpole provide resistance both when the dog pulls and the coiled spring pulls back, back leg should never leave the floor front legs raised, for tuffer workout hang near the trunk of a tree so the dog can push with the front legs, springpole develops the HEAD, JAWS, CHEST, BACK, FRONT END and BACK END, it is the best for any dog, with good natural muscle building nutrition you will look at your dog in 4 months and say WOW. And the best thing about SPRINGPOLE is it can be used in a relitively small space and is portable, one thing to remember though that in this country the mear mention of the word can cause some to frown, but they dont have a clue its exercise through similated play, fun and enjoyable and great for the dogs it does not encourage aggression or any of that BS its PLAY AND FUN. NO BAD DOGS ONLY BAD OWNERS. Steve ;D

Maybe its make the muscles in the head bigger? My dogs love the spring pole The bungee cord we have works brilliantly and i have always thought their condition was OK? It has enough resistace for all the dogs from the pups, , Poppy even Ivana - I personally prefer the bungee cord as my dogs particularly Poppy and Butch can get really into it and jump up its reduces the chance of catching teeth. Hate to disagree with you Steve...I do think that it can promote aggression within the dogs though, only if used inapropiatly.... When dealing with a dog with very high drive it is very easy for them to cross that line of play. I think it depends on the control you have over the dog, its obedience and how well you know your dog, and can tell when to calm them down.

totally agree with you,i have alway's been very full on with my dog's,but you must be in control and they should alway's know who's boss, you must be able to turn them off.i prefer to use the spring off an up and over garage door/five bar gate, off that i fix heavy chain,to that i fix their rag.the spring will offer more resistance and the chain make's it adjustable(height wise)by making it adjustable each dog can be worked at different height's/angle's and use/work different muscle group's.i some time's feed my dog's off the pole, some may not agree with this(make's them nasty)but if a dog know's he's got to work for his food it reinforce's the fact you are boss.when it come's to aggression it's as mentiond it's not the pole that make's them aggressive it's the person behind the dog.

Yes thats it - It is the same with any exercise for the dogs - Particularly when encouraging drive with a good a dog - knowing the dog inside out is very important.
The guy that breed our mastiff feeds of his of the pole too - swears by it. I will give it a go its something different and always worth a go to keep them busy... Sounds like a good idea.

i agree that it is a great tool for exercise, coupled with others that is.i always use a spring type springpole with a hide bait as i too am not keen on the bungee types.i tend to not even lift the dogs front legs from the floor until over a year old and agree that the back legs should never leave terra firmer.
