I put a new fence up in my mum's garden because he kept getting over the last one, I thought a five foot one would be enough to at least put him off but I caught him trying and only just failing to get over it today. A couple more attempts and he would have been over...that was from a standing start, I think if he had a run up he would have easily cleared it. I might have to put a trelace along the top of it now .

His brother from a previous litter is 21" and 55lb when carrying very little fat. Lyndon reckons he's very similar but a little more leggy so maybe 22" and 55-60lb. If he does get much bigger than that he'll be a bit unusual for his breeding, I don't think there are many Ingles dogs bigger than 21".

Being just over 5ft, and having had his sister jump at me, I'd safely say you need to up it substantially, as you probably realise he's a determined breed and will keep goign until he clears it. Looking very good though, has filled out a lot and has fab muscle tone.

If he's 21" now at 7 months, he's gonna be at least 24" in my opinion. Good luck mate.

Once I told him off for trying to get over the fence he started chewing at a bit of plastic (a burglar deterent plastic spike thing) at the end of the fence so he was trying to go through rather than over...like you say, determined! My mum reckons he might have to go on a chain lol.

hi owen, love the last picture! he really is something special. his comformation is exellent from the tip of his nose to the tip of his tail. his topline is tremendous right from his long arched neck, sloping shoulder's, level back and leading down into those long and angulated hind quarter's. strong front legs and a nice head on him too." no problem getting his ears up, eh". this dog is ballanced like scales so to speak. i dont come on forums willy nilly saying nice dog mate, but this dog is a cracker! i hope he has a nature to boot! a.t.b. ian.

Hopefully he won't try and go over again but being the way he is I think that he will try again. I think I'll put a trelace along the top first to see if that puts him off.

Thanks Ian, I'm very pleased with how he's turning out. His nature is very friendly, both with dogs and people. He has a huge hunting instinct and has always got his nose to the ground, he's very hard work and I wouldn't recommend people take a dog like this on lightly but he's very rewarding if you can get him to do what you want. As I've said before, I think alot of people would have taken him to a rescue centre by now, they're not for everyone but with a good walk EVERY day and a decent amount of training I don't think you could ask any more from a dog.

have you not thought about the electric collar and perimeter fence.he may have to much drive and pain threash hold though , worth a look though. they are quite tight skinned so it may work.

I thought electric collars have been banned now haven't they? I'm not a fan of them anyway, I prefer the CO2 spray collars.
I will be getting a CO2 spray collar when I can afford it as they're a bit pricy and this should work. I know the 'pet corrector' spray can I have is very effective and stops him doing what he's doing but it's hand held rather than a remote control collar type.

with all dog correction equipmeent it only needs to be used a couple of times and then a fake one can be used, you need to weigh up the pros and cons , if he needs a couple of shocks then he doesent jump the fence and ,1. get run over 2. taken to the kennels 3. get stolen. all 3 are more cruel so to speek than a couple of shocks off of the collar. or a good old bucket of water to correct or a super soaker. lets try not to humanize our dogs, if this dog was doing something undesirable in the wild its mother would correct it harshly, i do not like cruelty to dogs but a firm correction is needed.

I agree with everything you say but I have witnessed these things being used as torture devices with people shocking their dogs for fun so I can see why they've been banned. I've no objection to their proper use but there are alot of dickheads out there.
